Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

When I first heard of this book I was a little skeptical, but I decided to try it anyway.  I must give Marissa a big applause on having such a unique debut.  The idea of a cyborg Cinderella is a little out there, but she did a good job pulling the story together.  This book has its good, and not-so good points.  I really liked the characters, especially Iko and Dr. Erland.  I liked the concept of Cinderella being a mechanic, and the world they lived in was interesting.  I liked the idea of the setting, but I wished she would have elaborated more on it. It just felt empty to me.  The thing that disappointed me most was that I saw the entire plot twists coming, everything was given away before you get half the book read.  After reading this book I am left to wonder what will she do next, this story is supposed to be about a cyborg Cinderella, how is she going to keep that going?
